A simple homemade baked mac and cheese made with juicy salmon balls, creamy cheese sauce, and a golden melted topping. Easy to prepare and perfect for a warm family dinner at home. Servings: 4 Portions Ingredients 250 g elbow macaroni 10–12 salmon balls (cut in halves or leave whole) 2 tbsp butter 2 tbsp all-purpose flour 500 ml fresh milk 150 g cheddar cheese (grated) 50 g mozzarella cheese (optional, for topping) ½ tsp salt ½ tsp black pepper ½ tsp garlic powder (optional) For topping: Extra grated cheese (cheddar or mozzarella) Instructions Cook the Pasta Boil macaroni in salted water until just tender (al dente). Drain and set aside. Cook the Salmon Balls Pan-fry salmon balls for 2–3 minutes until lightly golden. This step adds extra flavor but can be skipped if using pre-cooked salmon balls. Make the Simple Cheese Sauce Melt butter in a pan over medium heat. Add flour and stir for about 1 minute. Slowly pour in the milk while stirring continuously. Cook until slightly thickened (about 3–5 minutes). Add cheddar cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. The sauce should be creamy but not too thick. Combine Add cooked macaroni and salmon balls into the sauce. Mix well. Bake Transfer everything into a baking dish. Sprinkle extra cheese on top. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 15–20 minutes until the top is melted and lightly golden. Let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. Make It Even Easier No oven? Just cook everything in a pan and cover with a lid until the cheese melts. Want extra creaminess? Add 2–3 tbsp cooking cream. For kids: skip pepper and garlic powder for milder flavor.
