Calamari Ball Rice Bowl

Calamari Ball Rice Bowl with warm steamed rice, savory glazed calamari balls, fresh vegetables, and a soft-boiled egg. A quick, flavorful, and satisfying meal.


Serves: 1 - 2 Portion

Ingredients:

Main

  • 4–6 Calamari Balls

  • 2 cups warm steamed rice

For the Calamari Balls

  • 1 tbsp butter or cooking oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

Vegetables (optional but recommended)

  • 1/2 cup sautéed vegetables (spinach, corn, green beans, or broccoli)

Sauce (choose one or combine)

  • 2 tbsp teriyaki sauce

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp oyster sauce

  • 1 tsp honey or sugar

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Toppings

  • 1 soft-boiled egg or sunny-side-up egg

  • Sesame seeds

  • Spring onions, finely sliced

  • Chili flakes or chili oil (optional)


Instructions:

  • Prepare the Calamari Balls

    Slice Calamari Balls into halves or thick rounds. Heat butter or oil in a pan over medium heat. Pan-sear until lightly golden and fragrant. Add garlic and sauté briefly.

  • Make the sauce

    Add teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, honey, and sesame oil into the pan. Stir well and let it simmer for 1–2 minutes until slightly thickened and glossy.

  • Cook the Vegetables

    In a separate pan, lightly sauté the vegetables with a pinch of salt until just tender.

  • Assemble the Rice Bowl

    Place warm rice in a bowl. Arrange the Calamari Balls on top, add sautéed vegetables, and drizzle with extra sauce.

  • Finish & serve

    Top with a soft-boiled egg, sprinkle sesame seeds and spring onions. Add chili flakes or chili oil if desired.

  • Easily customizable for Japanese-style, Korean-inspired, or modern fusion rice bowls
