Sweet & Spicy Teriyaki Shrimp Balls

Tender shrimp balls coated in a glossy sweet and spicy teriyaki glaze, this quick and easy recipe is perfect for a flavorful weeknight meal or an irresistible party appetizer.


Servings: 3 - 4 Portions


Ingredients

Main:

  • 8–10 shrimp balls

  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, finely minced


Sweet & Spicy Teriyaki Sauce:

  • 4 tablespoons teriyaki sauce

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1–2 tablespoons chili sauce (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar

  • 2 tablespoons water

  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water)


Optional Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped green onions

  • Red chili slices


Instructions

Prepare the Shrimp Balls

If using frozen shrimp balls, thaw completely and pat dry.Pan-sear them for 3–4 minutes until lightly golden on the outside.


Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine:

  • Teriyaki sauce

  • Soy sauce

  • Chili sauce

  • Honey (or brown sugar)

  • Water

Mix well and set aside.


Cook & Glaze

  1. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.

  2. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).

  3. Add shrimp balls and cook until heated through and slightly browned.

  4. Pour in the sauce mixture.

  5. Let it simmer for 2–3 minutes.

  6. Add the cornstarch slurry and stir until the sauce thickens and becomes glossy.

Cook until the shrimp balls are fully coated with the sticky glaze.


Serving Suggestions

Serve hot with:

  • Steamed white rice

  • Fried rice

  • Stir-fried vegetables

  • As party skewers for appetizers

  • For extra caramelization, let the sauce reduce slightly before stirring.

  • Adjust spice level by increasing or reducing chili sauce.
